The natural fence or
“the living wall”

A beautiful natural garden doesn’t need a wooden board fence painted green or brown.

There are many alternatives, for example, a laurel hedge, rose bushes, blackberry and raspberry bushes or string some wire and grow, morning glory a vine or grapevine along your property, it not only beautiful but you reap the benefits of having flowers or fruit from them.

Laurel is a most useful hedging plant because it grows happily in shade and puts up with dry sites.
Due to its all year round density laurel provides winter protection for many garden birds.

Leylandii is the king of the hedges.
It is tough, responsive,a haven for wildlife and does a wonderful job. It grows in most types of soil so long as they are not waterlogged and responds well to annual clipping.

Yew
Yew has been used for many centuries as a hedging conifer. Although it is slow growing it clips well and forms a dense hedge. It is more tolerant of shade than other hedging conifers but will not tolerate growing in damp places. It has the advantage of regrowing from old wood if it needs drastic treatment which is particularly useful for regenerating old hedges.
